" Me and Movies" is a short narrative that shares some insight about my career path. As a young person I was always intrigued by television and film and how it all works. I have always felt a connection to Los Angeles and everything Hollywood is all about. I've recently connected with some friends from elementary school and they remind that making movies has been something I have always wanted to do. Even though I had no support, I some how found my way to my passion. Interestingly enough, creating this piece was quite cathartic and gave me a more internal and focused look at how I teach narrative in the context of conceptualization, actualization and redacting and how I practice as a storyteller.

This was a process. Usually when I am doing a production it is a collaborative process. Maybe in the beginning, a writer is creating the master piece, but to see it through requires many people who share a passion for storytelling. This experience allowed me to go through the process alone, therefore requiring me to think in many directions in order to tell one story. The images, the sounds the music all are manipulated and finessed. The psychology behind the creation helps to explore the psychology of those who are affected by it. It embodies a thought, complete with a beginning, middle, an end and an objective to affect an individuals cognitive understanding. This is a gift to share with others. There is a freedom associated with being able to tell a story using just the resource at hand, a computer.

I was born on the 4th of July 1967. Wished I could remember that far back but I do remember the 70’s. And during the 70’s in Houston, TX, I spent a lot time alone as kid. It was just my mother and I as far can remember. My favorite pass time was watching the movies on television. I would rush home from elementary school and get my homework done so that I could climb into the television. Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, and Elvis Presley movies were my favorite. At one point I can remember looking at the credits and writing them down to research them in the library. I would search all that I could and not find anything that tells what the credits meant. My Mom was so cool growing up I just knew she would have the answers I was looking for. “Mom, do you know how I can find out about how movies are made for television?” She would reply, “Child, I don’t know anything about any movies, except that they are made in Hollywood, California, a really long way from here. Alone again in my quest to discover a world that I had become passionate about. I learned how to hold a girls hand, how to kiss her lips, by watching these movies. I learned that white people were cool. So, even though my mom would tell me to get home and stay in the house until she got there, I would still make my way to the movie theater down the street. The majestic, it was my other favorite place. I would mow lawns as often as I could to earn money to treat myself to the movies. I would study the credits and mimic the actors and life was filled with a dream. When I finally graduated from high school, I didn’t listen to my mother. I did not get that good job. Instead, I went on to college and studied film and moved to Los Angeles as soon as I could. Once there, my life was changed forever. I got my first Job as a film accountant and after graduating the American Film Institute, I found myself producing and directing projects for television and film. How about that, the thing my mom least supports me in, is the very thing that pays my bills and brings me the greatest Joy. “Me and Movies”, is a dream come true. A story of Dream Come True

I was born on the 4^th of July 1967. Wished I could remember that far back, but I do remember the 70’s.
